At the World's Fair in Chicago in 1892/93, a machine was set up for the first time that could roll coins in an elliptical shape. These "extended coins" were quickly called "elongated coins" or "pressed pennies", and in Germany also "souvenir coins". These machines can now be found at numerous tourist attractions around the world with which you can mint your own souvenir. The color of the coins inserted then also determines that of the souvenir coin. Our pocket-sized Pressed Penny Album is an ideal travel companion. Over the years, an attractive “travel diary” consisting of souvenir coins is created.
